Success Story #1

Background

The dog was squaring off rounded or wrapped jumps in agility and dropping bars. In obedience his gait timing was off when heeling.

Initial Posture Evaluation

Stand: Rear foot stance too wide, standing tucked under
Sit: Rear feet wide, not sitting up striaght, tipping toes up slightly
Down: Scrunched up through trunk, pelvis over rotated, rear feet extended and forward

Post Posture Evaluation

Improving posture through exercise increased this dog's awareness of how to use his body, learned what a balanced stand feels like and went from staying tucked under and supporting his weight through his back to standing and moving nicely with weight in all four feet. In obedience he is now shifting his weight back for heeling and is able to trot next to his owner. In agility, he went from squaring off jumps to tucking his rear feet underneath him to power over while wrapping.

Success Story #2

Background

Client was a terrier mix who stood with a roach back and had recovered from a psoas injury. Primarily competes in agility. He struggles with knocking bars and not utilizing his limbs as well as he could.

Initial Posture Evaluation

Stand: Standing tucked under
Sit: Rear feet too wide, not sitting up straight
Down: Scrunched up through trunk

Post Posture Evaluation

Through exercises we corrected his wide stance in a sit and taught him how to get his rear feet underneath him prior to taking off for a jump. This gave him more power to propel over a jump which equaled less bar knocking. We also taught him what a normal balanced stand feels like so he can stretch out through his spine and relax his back allowing him to maintain a longer stride which improved his yards per second.
