Class starts Monday 11/26.

I am giving a 2 week break Dec 17 and Dec 24th for the holidays. No class material will posted during those two weeks.

However, students can post videos and questions during that time. The next lesson will be posted 12/31/2018 and class will resume as normal.

Learn specific exercise that will help your dog jump with less effort but with more power. This course will show you 3 exercises per week. Each week will address one of the skills listed below.

~ Limb Awareness

~ Flexibility

~ Shifting weight to the rear

~ Lifting the front of the body up to take the jump - straight

~ Lifting the front of the body up to take a jump - turning

~ Power to push off from the rear - straight and while turning

~ Rounding over the jump

~ landing a jump straight

~ landing a jump while turning

This class has 9 lessons with the first lesson posting 1 week after enrollment starts. One lesson will post each week with 3 exercises to work on. You will have 90 days to post video and questions for feedback and access to all course material for 1 yr.

WHY TAKE THIS CLASS:

This class will improve your dog's muscle engagement and over all understanding of how to efficiently power over a jump. Increasing strength for each part of the jumping movement is key to improving the over all skill and power of the dog. Based on all the feedback I got, the student's dogs from the first class showed a lot of improvement in their jumping skills.

WHAT LEVEL ARE THE EXERCISES:

This course will have beginner to advanced exercise with most falling in the intermediate to advanced level. This class will focus specifically on the exercises taught and I will answer questions about the foundation needed but will not be teaching all the foundation movements (see suggested pre-requisite).

Suggested Pre-requisite behaviors either on cue, using a target or lured:

  • Give a paw or wave
  • Nose touch
  • Value for front, rear, and all feet on equipment
  • Folding down
  • Rock back sit
  • Tuck sit
  • Right and Left Circles (Spin & Twist)

Possible equipmentsubstitution will be recommended if you don’t have equipment used in the videos. There are many possible equipment options or you may use something you have laying around your house.

  • Rocker board or non slip board – doesn’t have to rock
  • 2o2o board/travel plank or aerobic bench
  • K9FITbones, large and small discs
  • Peanut
  • Klimbs or platforms
  • Cavalettis or agility jumps or poles on pop cans

NOTE: this course is NOT Jumping Power which was previous offered on the DaisyPeel website. This course has NEW exercises and will address specific skills without program design. Program design will be discussed in a later class (very in depth) and will not be discussed here. This class will focus specifically on exercises to strengthen your dog for the specific goal of jumping. Recommendations of repetition and sets of reps will be shown.

Bobbie owns and operates Pawsitive Performance which offers dog training, fitness training and trick training around the globe. She was part of the TEAM that contributed knowledge and experience to help design the FitPAWS Master Trainer Program (CCFT II) and is a course "Instructor". for the program. Bobbie completed the University of Tennessee Certified Canine Fitness Trainer program to earn a "CCFT" certification and also completed the certification program for Canine Fitness through the Companion Animal Sciences Institute. In addition, Bobbie is a Certified Training Partner with the Karen Pryor Academy.

Bobbie has 5 awesome dogs that train a variety of skills for agility, fitness training, herding, trick training, tugging and dock diving. Bobbie enjoys the training process and strives to comuinicate in the best way she can to help her dogs and clients dogs understand the task at hand. She starts every training sessions with this question "how can I set the dog up for success and give the dog the best information to successfully complete the behavior".


Frequently Asked Questions


When does the class start and finish?
Class officially starts the day after the enrollment period ends. New material will be dripped out every 7 days after class begins to allow you time to process the information and start the training process. Video review and commenting will be open for 90 days from the start of class allowing you plenty of time to work through the material, take and edit video and formulate your questions as well as allow me time to review and give feedback. I have built in extra time after all class materials are available so that students that are behind or students still working on behaviors can ask questions and post video for review and comment.
How long do I have access to the class?
For one year from the start of class. The school reserves the right to modify, update or remove this class at any time.
What is your refund policy for current classes?
You will receive a refund if you request your cancellation at least 1 day before the class begins. There are no refunds after class has started.
What if I am unhappy with the class?
We make every effort to offer valuable information at an affordable rate. We suggest you read the class description carefully before making your purchase to determine if the class is right for you. Because there are many levels of trainers, there will be material that is review for some and new to others. For those that are review, it will give you an opportunity to look at what you have trained and refine the behaviors as needed. Can Bobbie Lyons diagnose or treat injury??
No - Bobbie Lyons, CCFT, KPA CPT cannot diagnose or treat injury. She can design fitness plans for healthy dogs or dogs that have a written release from veterinary care and/or veterinary rehabilitation care.
